If one is to be serious about putting an end to racist anti-Asian violence, there has to be an addressing of causal factors. Advocating increased policing or crimes reporting alone fail to address the problem at the street level. Few Asian/Pacific Islander organizations are advocating direct aid to victims and families like Neighborhood Safety Companions (NSC) does. This needs to change. Our “demands” are a work in progress, but hopefully, what we present can encourage further discussion and constructive debate.
- Financial Aid for victims and families.
- Fund community street intervention safety efforts.
- Free bilingual-bicultural healthcare.
- Rebuilding the mental healthcare infrastructure.
- Mobile medical and drug treatment services.
- Permanent housing for homeless, NOW!
- Green jobs building homes and infrastructure.
- No racist stereotypes in mass media.
- Teach Asian and Pacific Islander American histories, including our resistance and contributions in addition to our oppression.
- Police accountability to the community – studies show that only increasing police budgets does not deter crime.
- Stop China-bashing and war-mongering that spikes anti-Asian violence. Support human rights in China and the USA.
